Golf, solidarity and legends of the sport came together on a historic day at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort, where the first edition of the Gasol Foundation Golf Invitational was held. This unforgettable event turned our two courses, the Links and Heathland, into the epicentre of international charity sport.
An event that unites sport, solidarity and social commitment
This month, La Hacienda Links was the scene of a sporting and charitable milestone: the inaugural edition of the Gasol Foundation Golf Invitational, held simultaneously at our two championship golf courses, Links and Heathland. This charity tournament, promoted by basketball legend Pau Gasol and his team at the Gasol Foundation, was founded with a transformative purpose: to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyle habits among children in vulnerable situations, using sport as a vehicle for change.
Thanks to the solid institutional support of the Junta de Andalucía, the Provincial Council of Cádiz, and the sponsorship of committed brands such as Jaguar Relojes and other strategic collaborators, the event exceeded all expectations in terms of participation, media impact and, above all, social impact.
Great sports stars united in a solidarity event
The Gasol Foundation Golf Invitational brought together at La Hacienda Golf a stellar lineup of elite athletes, international references and young promises of golf, united by a charitable cause that transcends sport. Among the participants were a host of household sporting names including 22-time Grand Slam tennis champion Rafa Nadal, Álvaro Morata, Rudy Fernández, chef and social activist José Andrés, as well as renowned professional golfers such as Álvaro Quirós, Adri Arnaus, Ángel Hidalgo, Andrea Revuelta and Paula Martín, recent winner of the Women’s Amateur Championship 2025.
Together they formed mixed teams that combined experience, talent and youth, on a day marked by camaraderie, passion for golf and social commitment. The competition, played simultaneously on the Links and Heathland courses, offered a spectacle of golf that all participants enjoyed.
The stellar match that brought together Pau Gasol, Rafa Nadal and up-and-coming ladies’ golf stars, Andrea Revuelta and Paula Martín, became the perfect reflection of the soul of the tournament: sporting excellence, intergenerational inclusion and active solidarity.
“My passion for golf started because it was the only sport I could play without the risk of injury. But I discovered that it has something unique: we can play together, even if we have very different levels. That doesn’t happen in any other sport,” said Rafa Nadal, visibly emotional after the match.
The participation of these figures not only raised the level of the tournament but also sent a powerful message: great social causes are also played on the green. Their direct involvement is an inspiring example of how sport can be a transformative tool.

A unique charity tournament on two golf courses simultaneously
The Gasol Foundation Golf Invitational was held simultaneously at the Links and Heathland courses. Both 18-hole courses, perfectly equipped to accommodate top-level athletes, became the ideal setting for a day of golf with a solidarity purpose.
The competition began with a very special start, with the team of Gasol and Nadal hitting from a historic Second World War bunker preserved on the course, which was set up as a symbolic tee for the occasion. A gesture full of meaning that united sport at the service of a charitable cause.
From the early hours of the day, the activity unfolded in parallel on our two golf courses located on the Costa del Sol, welcoming teams made up of sports celebrities, professional golfers, collaborators and entrepreneurs, all united by a common goal: to improve the health and well-being of the most vulnerable children through the work of the Gasol Foundation.
“We have set the bar very high for a first edition. I am very excited that this event will become a benchmark,” said Gasol after finishing his participation, thanking the institutional support and the warmth of the attendees.
The day was a testimony to the potential of the venue’s facilities to host major charity golf events on a national and international scale, projecting once again La Hacienda Links Golf Resort as a space where sport, nature, excellence and social commitment go hand in hand.

A solidarity gala with record fundraising and shared emotion
The finishing touch of the first day of the tournament was an unforgettable gala dinner held at the clubhouse, by Sal Verde, belonging to the Azotea group, which manages the catering at La Hacienda Golf. The evening included a charity auction in which the extraordinary figure of €116,000 was raised, funds that will go entirely to the children’s health programmes promoted by the Gasol Foundation.
Among the most desired items were unique pieces of great symbolic and emotional value: an official Lakers jersey signed by Pau Gasol, a Carlos Alcaraz racket, a Marc Márquez competition helmet, as well as exclusive experiences such as a dinner for two people at the iconic El Celler de Can Roca restaurant, with three Michelin stars.
The bid also included jerseys autographed by sports legends such as Rafa Nadal, Luka Dončić, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso and the FC Barcelona women’s team, as well as club bags used by elite golfers like Álvaro Quirós, Adri Arnaus, Ángel Ayora or Paula Martín.
This gala was a demonstration that sport, culture and solidarity can come together to make a real impact on the lives of thousands of children.
Tournament and prize winners
The first edition of the Gasol Foundation Golf Invitational crowned the team formed by Ángel Hidalgo, César Penalva, Pablo Masilla and Juan Delgado, who signed a brilliant performance on the Links and Heathland courses. In second position, the quartet made up of Pau Gasol himself, the young promise Andrea Revuelta, the professional Adri Arnaus and the basketball player Rudy Fernández, showed a great level of rapport and competitiveness. Third place went to the solid team composed of Álvaro Quirós, Luis Milla, Juanma Morales and Manuel Escribano.
The emotional awards ceremony, held at the resort’s facilities, was presided over by the Minister of Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía, Patricia del Pozo, who was accompanied by other regional authorities. During his speech, he highlighted the strategic value of initiatives such as this one:
“This tournament not only promotes sport and competitive excellence but acts as a true catalyst for social transformation,” said del Pozo. “It reflects the noblest values of sport: solidarity, effort, teamwork and commitment to future generations.”
With the awards ceremony, the event closed its sports aspect with a deep sense of community, in line with the Gasol Foundation’s mission: to improve children’s health through the power of sports.

Previous activities: sports, education and health for the new generations
Before the official start of the tournament, the Gasol Foundation Golf Invitational deployed a series of educational and informative actions in San Roque and La Línea de la Concepción, with the aim of bringing the values of sport and healthy lifestyle habits closer to young people. Pau Gasol shared inspiring days with boys and girls from the CD Centurias and CD Unión Linense Baloncesto clubs, to whom he transmitted the four fundamental pillars for a healthy childhood: physical activity, balanced diet, quality rest and emotional well-being.
These sessions, dynamic and interactive, were coordinated by Gasol Foundation technicians and local coaches, in a close, motivating and deeply transformative environment for the participants.
The event in La Línea coincided with the inauguration of the new Punto Ribot Sports Pavilion, a modern infrastructure promoted by the Provincial Council of Cádiz in collaboration with the City Council of La Línea, which symbolizes the institutional commitment to grassroots sport and social inclusion. During the opening, Gasol encouraged young people to take care of their health through movement and fun: “Every step towards a more active and healthy life is a step towards a future full of opportunities.”
These pre-tournament activities underline that the true impact of the tournament goes far beyond the green: it begins on the courts, in schools and in every corner where children discover the power of sport to transform their present and future.
