Held in the province of Andalusia, the Cádiz Golf Forum is a professional event which is focused on helping to facilitate the creation of strategic contacts and encourage networking among golf industry professionals in the region. The event brings together local professionals to establish connections and network in an exclusive setting, such as La Hacienda Links Golf Resort.
The staging of the first Cádiz Golf Forum at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort marked a significant milestone in promoting golf in Cádiz. Bringing together key figures from the institutional, sports and business worlds, the forum highlighted the economic and tourism potential of golf in the province, as well as its role in the sustainable and high-quality development of the region.
The Mayor of San Roque recognises the strategic value of golf
The first edition of the Cádiz Golf Forum was inaugurated by the mayor of San Roque and president of the Cádiz Provincial Council, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, who was accompanied by members of the municipal government team and the general manager of La Hacienda Links Golf Resort, Javier Jiménez-Casquet. During his speech, Ruiz Boix highlighted that the golf sector generates an annual revenue of €770 million in the province and that each golf tourist spends an average of €122 per day. These figures confirm that golf in Cádiz is a key economic driver.
Cádiz, a key player in elite sports tourism
Ruiz Boix also highlighted the fundamental role that the province plays in international golf tourism, thanks to the hosting of top-level tournaments that attract players and fans from around the world. This international presence is reinforced by Cádiz’s constant presence at major global tourism fairs, where its golf offering is showcased and the strategic plans developed by the Provincial Tourism Board are consolidated.

A consolidated network of golf courses in Cádiz
During the forum, the extensive and varied network of golf courses in Cádiz was highlighted, with a total of 22 facilities distributed throughout the province, nine of them located in the Campo de Gibraltar region. This wealth of infrastructure, combined with the beautiful landscape and the characteristic hospitality of the region, makes Cádiz a leader for high-quality golf.
The event featured a speech by Javier Reviriego, director of Real Club Valderrama, who emphasised the importance of being part of the LIV Golf Tour. The 2025 edition of the tournament – the only one on European soil – will be held at the San Roque course from June 30 to July 2, further consolidating Cádiz’s image as a prominent destination in international golf.
Debate and innovation at the first Cádiz Golf Forum
The day included key presentations, such as the renovation of the former Alcaidesa Links by acclaimed architect Kurtis Bowman, and a round-table discussion entitled “Women and Golf” featuring leading industry professionals including Rita Jordao, Ana Belén Rendon and Montse San Francisco. This panel focused on the growing visibility and participation of women in the golf industry, a significant step toward inclusion and balance in this traditionally male-dominated sector.
Golf’s economic impact in the province
The session concluded with a presentation entitled “Impact and Key Figures of Golf in Cádiz” given by Héctor Llanza Ortiz and Fernando Padrón Pérez. Both experts presented data that support the sustained growth of the sector and the potential of Cádiz as the epicenter of golf in southern Europe, both for its sports offering and its first-class tourist infrastructure.
A firm commitment to the future of golf in Cádiz
The success of this first forum reflects the joint commitment of public administrations and the private sector to the development of golf in Cádiz. The combination of top-level courses in San Roque, a privileged setting and a clear tourism strategy bodes well for a promising future. Andalusia not only boasts excellent golf courses in Cádiz, but also a clear vision to establish itself as a preferred destination for those seeking excellence in every experience.
