Spanish women’s golf started the year with a bang thanks to the Andalusian Women’s Cup<\/strong> at the iconic La Hacienda Links course<\/a> in San Roque, C\u00e1diz. Staged on an annual basis in Andalusia and organised by the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, the tournament is one of the most prestigious regional competitions for women golfers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held from January 9-12, the amateur event brought together some of the best golfers in the country, reaffirming the growth of women\u2019s golf in Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ana Pelaez, Nuria Iturrioz and Roc\u00edo Tejedo, among the leading figures in women’s golf<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

This year’s edition featured 83 players, 62 of whom had a plus handicap, reflecting the extremely high quality of the competition. The format was stroke play, with 18 holes played on a daily basis over four fierce days of competition<\/strong>. A cut was made at the end of the third round, with the top 50 players advancing to the final round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Andalusian Women’s Cup not only serves as a scoring event for the world ranking and under-18 and under-16 national rankings<\/strong>, but also has a proven track record for producing golfers who have gone to make a name for themselves as professionals.shine. Names such as Ana Pel\u00e1ez (champion in 2013, 2020 and 2021), Mar\u00eda Parra, Nuria Iturrioz, Ivon Reijers, Laura Pasalodos and Carla Tejedo feature among the winners of this benchmark event in Spanish women’s golf.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the most notable Spanish golfers, mention must also be made of Roc\u00edo Tejedo, the defending champion. With two national titles and nine international titles won in 2023, including the gold medal at the European Women’s Under-18 Team Championship and the PING Junior Solheim Cup, the Castell\u00f3n native came into the event with the best handicap in the field and all eyes were firmly on her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
